Phishing: The Beginner's Guide!!!

In the previous article, I have coined one new term called Phishing, but I don’t define i. so our today’s article is for that missing part.  For this one, some of them already know the details about it but many of us don’t know about it. But this one is encountered in our daily and many of us have experience about it without aware of it.

Hey! Wait!! Are you saying that even myself?

Yes. Maybe you’re also fooled by this without your knowledge.

Hey!! What are you saying?

Yes, I’m saying the truth. Here I will present one simple example for you. If you have received one call from an unknown number and they said that they are calling from XXX bank and ask you about your bank details, and then what did you do?

The first thing that comes to your mind is to verify that person is right. Yes, this fake call is called Phishing.

From the technical point of definition, Phishing is a cybercrime in which targets are contacted by email, phone, or text message by someone posing as a legitimate institution to lure individuals into providing sensitive data such as personally identifiable information, bank and credit card details, and passwords. Then the collected information is used to access important accounts and can result in identity theft and financial losses. The main goal of phishing is to trick the recipient into believing that message is something they want or need, and then once they believe it then the intruder will start to collect the information they need.

I think now you’re all understood why I said that thing. Ok, then now you all have one doubt that what are the various types of phishing and how to protect ourselves against it. Here is the answer for you. First, we have to know the various types of phishing:

  • Email
  • Pop up Ads
  • SMS
  • Voice Call
  • Etc

Now, we all know the medium of but we also have to know the way to protect ourselves against it. These are presented as follows:

  • Filter spams
  • Change the browser setting that only allows reliable sites
  • Don’t share your information especially the bank details
  • Always verify the website security
  • Always aware of “Eye – Catching” or “Attention – Grabbing” statements like “You won the iPhone, if you want then share your details with this email for processing”

So always be Aware!

You all have one doubt that why I choose this one for today’s topic. Because recently I heard one of these scam. That is the order-grabbing website, in the beginning, they look very genuine and handle the customer’s money in a very careful way. After some time, they offer some huge discount, most of the users are believed it and invest the money on it. Once they have done the recharge, then they start their work. Which means first they said that task is 5 days after the 5th-day tasks you will withdraw you many in three times the original one. Most of the users have the bonus amount and withdraw the amount. But once they done withdraw, the admin will message the congratulation and boost up them. But the users can’t receive the money, so they ask the admin, then the admin will tell them that they are encountered the Income-tax raid that’s why they can’t pay the amount. Once the raid is over, you will get the amount. The users will trust their statement. But after two days they said that their software is undergone some crashes so they ask the users to withdraw the entire amount in their corresponding account, for that the users withdraw the amount once again. But after that, they told the users to pay a minimum of 1000 for further processing of their transaction. Here most of the users have disbelief in their site. Then the very next day their website is absent. It is also one of the phishing after I heard about this I will intimate you that there are some ways to fool you so always aware of this type of scam.
