Have you ever been think about how the Internet works? What are the things are happening while we message over internet? In our today's topic we discussed about how the I internet works. All of us uses internet in our daily typically said the internet is our seventh sense. But most of us doesn't know how this works. All of us that if it works properly then why I should know the working process. In Case I found and problem the technical people will resolve it, then why should I know the details? But this type of thinking is wrong it is must to know the basics of internet. Because we all live not only in the earth but also in internet. So now you all understand that why we need to know about it. OK no further delay let's jump on to the internet World.
Have you heard about the term OSI? Basically it is a standard used for internet. This one developed the model called OSI model this one is used for transmission of contents over internet.
This OSI model consist of 7 layers. Each of the layer plays a vital role in internet. Before move on to the working process of layers first we have to know the what are the layers are presented on this model. The layers are listed as follows:
- Physical layer
- Data link layer
- Network layer
- Transport layer
- Session layer
- Presentation layer
- Application layer
Now we all know the name of the layers the it's a time for us to know how this works.
OK, I'll explain things clearly so read it on carefully. The first layer is physical layer which is one who can connect the device with the Internet medium through physically like router, modem, and etc. So the work of physical layer is to establish a physical connection between devices. The next layer is data link layer, major work for this one is to check the messages whether it is legit or not. Next one is network layer which is important part to establish the connection between the sender and receiver and is also the essential part to find the best route to transfer the information. Same like over roadways internet is also have numerous ways to transfer the information, if you want to go some place then you have to find the shortest way to reach the destination within short period of time same thing will done on internet also and the network layer is solely responsible for that work. Next one is transport layer who is the one transfer files between the source and destination and it also checks whether the recevied file send by the legitimate user or not. The 6th layer is session layer which established the session between the source and destination.
Here you all have the doubt that why we need it?
The answer for this question is explained with the simple real life example. If the you have 5 kg of vegetables and you want to put it on the fridge, you have two options one is you put all of them at once but the damage is high. The next option is first separate them and arrange them in order, here the damage is zero. The second type is same as the transmission of message is also. Because in internet, the message are divided into small packets and send one at a time but these all happened within the fraction of time so we can't see any lag. For this type of transmission we need session because we can't established the connection each time so once the connection is established the session is created and it remains until the communication is over.
The final layer is application layer which the part we use, yes application layer is none other than the application we used to access the internet such as browsers, mail app or any social media apps.
